Since the inception of the Central City Mainstreet program in 2000, many of the downtown's buildings have undergone extensive renovations. Several of these renovations are shown in the "before and after" photos below. There was also an extensive streetscape project that aided in the transformation of the downtown.
The improvements you see were made possible by a variety of means depending on the location and project, but included loans, grants, tax increment financing, and of course significant investments both financially and in sweat equity by the building owners and/or businesses owners who occupy these buildings.
Renovations and improvements are ongoing, but much has been accomplished in which the citizens of Central City can take great pride. Visit our downtown and see for yourself!
